President Prabowo visits new homes for Senen railway trackside residents

President Prabowo Subianto visited residents who have moved into a new housing complex after previously living in inadequate conditions along the railway tracks near Senen Station in Central Jakarta. The visit, which took place on Friday evening, aimed to check on the families in their new homes.

"Tonight, I met residents at their new homes. They previously lived along the railway tracks near Senen Station, Jakarta," Prabowo wrote on his official social media account. He expressed hope that the new residences would provide a "more decent, safe, and comfortable place to live for all the families." During his visit, the President was seen interacting with residents and inspecting the new housing units.

This relocation follows President Prabowo's earlier instruction to officials to provide housing for those living in substandard conditions along the Senen railway tracks. He had made an unannounced visit to the settlement on March 26, 2026, where he learned that residents had been living there for decades with limited housing and inadequate roofing.

State-owned enterprise PT Hutama Karya (Persero) constructed 324 housing units and supporting facilities on approximately 1.61 hectares of land. The Senen housing complex is designed as temporary housing, with each unit measuring 4.5 by 4.5 meters and equipped with basic amenities. The complex also includes communal facilities such as a gathering area, shared kitchen, laundry facilities, separate restrooms, open spaces, and a children's playground, along with a lighting system, single-gate access, and CCTV cameras for security.
