Prime Minister Launches National Fisheries Week by Releasing Fish Fry

Prime Minister Tarique Rahman officially launched National Fisheries Week 2026 on Sunday by releasing fish fry into the Brahmaputra river in Pakundia upazila, Kishoreganj. Reaching Pakundia around 11:30 a.m., Rahman proceeded to the Brahmaputra near Mirzapur Chairman Bari Ghat to release the fry.

Rahman departed his Dhaka residence at 9:15 a.m. for Kishoreganj. Along his route, hundreds of party leaders, activists, children, and women gathered to greet him, to which the prime minister responded with a wave and a smile. This event marks the beginning of a week dedicated to celebrating and promoting fisheries.

Following his Pakundia engagement, the prime minister is slated to visit the Katiadi Card Hatchery Complex. Later in the afternoon, he will formally inaugurate National Fisheries Week 2026 and present the National Fisheries Awards at the George Institute Mini Stadium in Achmita. His itinerary also includes a tree-planting event at Sholakia Ground and the distribution of Family Cards at Kishoreganj Stadium, highlighting a broad agenda for the day.
