Professor Allegedly Stabs Brother-in-Law Over 50 Times; Music Classroom Closure Extended

A brutal murder at a music classroom in Hsinchu City has sent shockwaves through the community and the academic world. A professor, identified as Lin Shih-chun, allegedly attacked his brother-in-law, a music classroom owner named Chi, stabbing him over 50 times.

The suspect was subdued by police who fired four shots, hitting him in both legs. He is currently hospitalized and is expected to remain there for about two weeks before facing further investigation. The motive for the attack is still under investigation, with speculation centering on disputes over family property and the management of the music classroom.

The music classroom, which employs 40 instructors, was forced to close following the incident. An initial announcement stated it would reopen on July 24. However, due to the need for renovations and enhanced safety measures, a new announcement indicated the reopening would be postponed indefinitely. This decision has caused concern among parents, some of whom are hesitant to send their children back, while others worry about the impact on their children's music exams.
