Profile: Rudi Margono, acting Jampidsus replacing Febrie Adriansyah

Rudi Margono, the Inspector General of Prosecutors (Jamwas), has been appointed as the acting Junior Attorney General for Special Crimes (Jampidsus), according to a directive from the Attorney General. The appointment, effective July 11, 2026, tasks Margono with carrying out the duties of the Jampidsus position.

Margono, a prosecutor with a three-star rank, has largely remained out of the public eye since assuming the role of Inspector General in December 2024. In his capacity as Jamwas, he has been responsible for overseeing investigations into prosecutors accused of violating ethical codes. Prior to this, he headed the Education and Training Body of the Attorney General's Office.

His career includes significant positions such as High Prosecutor of Jakarta and Riau Islands, as well as a prosecutor at the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). Margono is also recognized for his extensive legal writing, having published five books in 2026 alone, covering topics like money laundering investigations, prosecutorial integrity, and asset recovery. He also authored books on tracing corruptors' assets and drafting indictments under the new criminal code.

Beyond his legal career, Margono is a keen sportsman, particularly in tennis. He chaired the Adhyaksa Tennis Club from 2025 to 2028, a position previously held by Febrie Adriansyah, who resigned as Jampidsus on the same day Margono's appointment was announced. Margono holds a doctorate in law from Brawijaya University and was appointed an honorary professor in criminal law by UNISSULA in 2025.
