Prosecutor details evidence behind convictions in murders of Quebec couple

Dominica has convicted two American men for the murders of Quebec entrepreneur Daniel Langlois and his partner, Dominique Marchand. The convictions, secured on July 28, followed an extensive international investigation, according to a special prosecutor in the Caribbean nation.

Langlois and Marchand's bodies were discovered in December 2023 inside a burnt-out vehicle near the luxury resort they owned in Dominica. During the month-long trial, prosecutors presented a range of evidence, including ballistics, DNA, and phone records, and called more than 46 witnesses.

Langlois died from multiple gunshot wounds, and a ballistics report could not rule out a firearm belonging to one of the accused, Jonathan Lehrer, as the source of the bullets.

Lehrer, an American property owner, had reportedly been involved in a protracted dispute with Langlois concerning road access to the couple's resort. Both Lehrer and Snyder Jr. have appealed their convictions and are scheduled to be sentenced in September.
