Prosecutor removed from post in Peru after allegedly assaulting police officer

The National Prosecutor's Office in Peru has removed prosecutor Johanny Yessenia Lindao Feria from her posts in Piura following allegations of assaulting a police officer. The incident occurred during a traffic intervention in the Castilla district, where Lindao Feria allegedly headbutted a National Police of Peru (PNP) officer.

The measure was formalized through Resolution No. 2046-2026-MP-FN, published in the Official Gazette El Peruano. The dismissal is without prejudice to any pending legal actions. The National Prosecutor, Tomás Aladino Gálvez Villegas, signed the document. The incident saw Lindao Feria react violently after being stopped while a passenger in a vehicle allegedly engaging in reckless maneuvers.

As a result of the alleged assault, the officer required three days of medical leave due to the injuries sustained. Lindao Feria was subsequently detained and placed at the disposal of the Piura Unit for Flagrancy offenses, facing charges of violence and resistance against authority. The driver of the vehicle, Arcadio Miranda Rodríguez, is under investigation for alleged drunk driving, with a blood alcohol level of 1.37 grams per liter, significantly exceeding Peru's legal limit for private drivers.

Lindao Feria had served as a provisional deputy provincial prosecutor in the Piura Fiscal District since December 2017 and was appointed to the Provincial Criminal Corporate Prosecutor's Office of Castilla in October 2019. Her dismissal from both positions follows this recent incident. The report also notes that the driver is being investigated for drunk driving.
