Prosecutors Appeal Acquittal of Singer Michał Wiśniewski in Loan Fraud Case

The legal battle surrounding singer Michał Wiśniewski's acquittal in a loan fraud case is not over, as prosecutors have filed an appeal. The District Prosecutor's Office in Warsaw-Praga announced on Monday that it has lodged an appeal with the Supreme Court against the ruling that cleared the artist.

Wiśniewski had been accused of fraudulently obtaining a loan amounting to 2.8 million Polish zloty (approximately $700,000 USD) from the SKOK Wołomin credit union. The prosecution alleged that he provided false information about his income to secure the funds. The initial court ruling found him not guilty, but the prosecutor's office believes this decision is incorrect.

The appeal signifies the prosecution's intent to pursue the case further, arguing that the evidence presented warranted a conviction. The Supreme Court will now review the case to determine if the acquittal stands or if a new trial or different verdict is warranted.
