Prosecutors Seek 10 Million Won Fine for Woman Accused of Stalking Actor Hwang Jung-min

A South Korean court is considering a stalking case involving actor Hwang Jung-min, with prosecutors seeking a 10 million won fine for a woman in her 40s accused of stalking him. The prosecution cited the prolonged duration of the alleged offenses, the excessive number of one-sided communications, and the victim's plea for severe punishment as reasons for their request.

The defendant's lawyer argued for her acquittal, while the woman herself stated in her final testimony, "There were moments when my emotions broke down and I did things I shouldn't have." However, she insisted, "But what I did over two years is completely different from being a stalker who chases one person."

Hwang Jung-min's agency filed a complaint against the woman last August. Initially, the court issued a summary order for a 3 million won fine in February. The woman claims to have had a personal relationship with Hwang, a assertion that Hwang's side refutes, maintaining that she has persistently engaged in stalking behavior. The first-instance sentencing for the woman is scheduled for next month.
