Protesters Block Mexico City Attorney General's Office for Second Day, Demanding Release of 8 Detainees

For the second day in a row, demonstrators converged outside the Attorney General's Office of Justice of Mexico City (FGJ-CDMX) to demand the release of eight people arrested in connection with an alleged property dispossession case. The protest, led by members of the Frente Impulsivo Popular de la Convención de la CDMX and headed by Arleth Rangel, resulted in a three-hour closure of Dr. Lavista street in the Doctores neighborhood, causing significant traffic disruptions.

The demonstrators chanted slogans and voiced their demands for the detainees' freedom. The core of the protest centers on a conflict over a property located in the Magdalena de las Salinas neighborhood, within the Gustavo A. Madero mayor's office. According to one party involved in the dispute, the property in question belongs to an 82-year-old woman.

After maintaining the blockade for several hours, the protesters eventually cleared the street, allowing traffic to resume. They made no further statements to the press before dispersing. This demonstration highlights ongoing tensions and legal disputes surrounding property rights in the capital.
