Protesters Gather at KPK Ahead of Former Deputy AG's Reported Detention

A crowd gathered outside the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) building on Friday (July 24, 2026), holding candles and protesting ahead of the reported detention of former Deputy Attorney General for Special Crimes, Febrie Adriansyah.

Adriansyah is allegedly set to be detained at the KPK detention center, even though his case is being handled by the Attorney General's Office (Kejagung). Sources within the KPK reportedly initiated this information. However, as of 11 p.m. Western Indonesian Time, Adriansyah had not yet left his examination at the Kejagung.

Uniquely, a group of protesters calling themselves the United People's Coalition appeared, sitting in a circle with candles. Their rally supported Adriansyah's detention, with one participant stating, "There are so many reasons to defend Febrie Adriansyah, even though he has brought shame."

The Kejagung had previously announced nine investigators handling Adriansyah's case, most of whom had served at the KPK before returning to the Attorney General's Office. This special team is re-examining Adriansyah for the second time concerning alleged corruption and money laundering charges, based on a new investigation order issued on July 20, 2026.
