Protests continue in Jakarta, with crowds remaining near Slipi and Petamburan until dawn

Jakarta saw continued crowds in the Slipi and Petamburan areas persisting until Friday dawn, following a demonstration near the Indonesian Parliament building. The lingering presence of protesters highlighted the ongoing public engagement after the main event.

Until approximately 3:00 AM Western Indonesian Time, significant gatherings were visible along Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto, particularly near the Petamburan bus stop and the Slipi flyover. Groups of people congregated on the roadside, and movement was observed towards the Slipi and Pejompongan intersections. Amidst these crowds, some items were seen burning on the roadway, indicating continued unrest.

The main road in front of the Parliament complex, Jalan Jenderal Gatot Subroto, remained closed to traffic. Vehicles traveling from the Semanggi direction were diverted through Jalan Gerbang Pemuda. Near the Petamburan bus stop, residents paused to document the situation with their mobile phones, suggesting a notable public presence and interest in the events unfolding.

Traffic flow in the vicinity had not returned to normal. Motorcyclists were seen traveling against the flow of traffic on the Slipi flyover, near the Supreme Audit Agency building, heading towards the Slipi intersection. Reports also indicated the presence of tear gas in the area during the early hours of Friday morning, suggesting a tense atmosphere and potential confrontations.
