PT leader stable after stroke, posts hospital photo

Federal Deputy Pedro Uczai, the leader of the Workers' Party (PT) in Brazil's Chamber of Deputies, is in stable condition after suffering a stroke on Tuesday. Uczai posted a photo on Wednesday from his hospital bed, accompanied by fellow deputies Hugo Motta and Jandira Feghali.

According to a statement from the PT leadership in the Chamber, Uczai is conscious and showing good clinical progress, with no cognitive or motor impairment. He remains hospitalized for additional examinations. The statement also noted that Uczai spoke by phone with President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva.

President Lula reportedly urged Uczai to prioritize his health, stressing his importance for fulfilling his mandate, leading the party bloc, and contributing to the election campaign. The presence of Motta, who is the President of the Chamber of Deputies, and Feghali, both physicians, was also highlighted during Uczai's hospitalization.
