PTI, TTAP Agree on Sept. 27 Long March to Islamabad: CM Afridi

Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has confirmed that the leadership of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its ally, the Tehreek Tahaffuz-i-Ayeen Pakistan (TTAP), are aligned on holding a long march to Islamabad on September 27.

Afridi stated in a television program that the decision has been collectively agreed upon by the PTI's national leadership and the TTAP. Responding to questions about reservations from Imran Khan's sister, Aleema Khan, regarding the date, Afridi described her as a "non-political individual" who would come to an agreement once fully briefed on the facts.

The PTI’s political leadership across the country and its ally, the TTAP, are all on board with the long march, and they collectively agreed on September 27 as the date for it.

He also refuted claims of meeting Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi prior to setting the march date, calling the allegations "rubbish." Afridi clarified his whereabouts during the time of the alleged meeting, stating he was at KP House in Islamabad, not Peshawar as claimed.

Furthermore, the Chief Minister rejected the notion of a communication breakdown between the PTI's leadership and its grassroots workers. He commented on the passionate slogans heard during a recent rally, suggesting that institutions hindering the PTI's political space should recognize the party's leadership's efforts to resolve issues through mutual understanding. Afridi expressed confidence that the youth's passion would be unstoppable on September 27.

During the interview, Afridi also voiced criticism of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif's federal government, citing economic inefficiency and poor governance. He indicated his willingness to defer the long march date or facilitate talks if instructed by PTI founder Imran Khan during a potential meeting at Adiala jail.
