Puan Highlights 16 Bills Passed Into Law During 2025-2026 Session

Indonesian House of Representatives Speaker Puan Maharani highlighted the passage of 16 bills during the 2025-2026 parliamentary session, presenting the figure as a key measure of the legislature’s work with the government.

Speaking at a special plenary meeting marking the DPR’s 81st anniversary, Puan said the 16 draft laws had been completed and enacted during the session. Parliament will carry 14 other bills at the first level of deliberation into the next session.

She also listed 19 bills designated as DPR initiatives, four undergoing harmonisation at the Legislation Body, 27 in preparation by parliamentary committees and eight international convention ratifications.

Throughout the 2025-2026 session year, the DPR RI completed 16 draft laws into laws.

Puan said the Constitutional Court received 418 cases challenging laws against Indonesia’s 1945 Constitution during the same session. Between August 15, 2025, and July 30, 2026, the court fully granted three cases, partly granted 32, rejected 105, declared 185 inadmissible, recorded 80 withdrawals and dismissed 12 as moot. In one case, it ruled that it lacked jurisdiction.

Puan said the DPR remained committed to producing legislation consistent with the Constitution, providing legal certainty, securing strong legitimacy, meeting public needs and supporting national development goals.
