Hanta Yuda Says Public Trust in Government Stands at 63.2 Percent

Public trust in Indonesia’s Prabowo-Gibran government stands at 63.2 percent, giving the administration what Poltracking Indonesia Executive Director Hanta Yuda called valuable political capital.

Hanta said the figure provided a strong legitimacy base for the government to improve its performance and recover public satisfaction, which has declined. Approval for the administration stood at 55.1 percent, below the trust rating.

“The difference between trust at 63.2 percent and approval at 55.1 percent is room for the government to recover, and this is very, very possible,” Hanta said at the release of Poltracking’s national survey on public satisfaction with the Prabowo-Gibran government in Jakarta. “The government is not experiencing a crisis of trust. What is happening is a warning signal of a potential satisfaction crisis.”

He said the public had raised critical concerns about several technical policies, but continued to respond positively to what he described as fundamental areas of government. Satisfaction exceeded 60 percent in education, social and cultural affairs, health, and defence and security.

Hanta called for five government measures to restore the approval rating. He said the public still expected the administration to restore stability, beginning with protection for household purchasing power. His proposed first priority was the large-scale creation of jobs, combined with stronger social safety nets such as direct cash assistance for vulnerable groups.
