Public Gathers at Merdeka Palace for 81st Indonesian Independence Day Ceremony

Crowds of Indonesian citizens have begun to assemble at the Merdeka Palace, preparing to participate in the 81st anniversary of the nation's independence on Monday, August 17. The atmosphere is festive, with many attendees donning traditional clothing that represents the diverse cultural heritage of Indonesia's various regions. Others have chosen to wear formal attire adorned with the national colors of red and white.

Upon entering the Merdeka Palace grounds, the public is receiving gift bags filled with souvenirs commemorating the 81st anniversary. These packages contain items such as hats, towels, mugs, a book titled "Presiden Solusi" (President's Solution), umbrellas, and traditional toys like rubber bands and marbles. Light snacks are also being distributed.

The main ceremony for the 81st Indonesian Independence Day is scheduled for Monday, August 17. The flag-raising ceremony is expected to commence around 7:30 AM Western Indonesian Time. This will be followed by the Commemoration of the Proclamation of Independence at 10:00 AM. Later in the day, the flag-lowering ceremony is planned for 5:00 PM.
