Purwakarta Police Arrest 14 Teens in Brutal Group Assault Case

Authorities in Purwakarta have apprehended 14 youths in connection with a brutal group assault that left two individuals severely injured. The incident, which took place on Jalan Raya Sadang, has sent shockwaves through the community, highlighting a disturbing trend of youth violence. The incident occurred after a group of teenagers who had just watched a Persib match passed through the location. However, they were then attacked by another group that was not known, causing two people from their group to be left behind and become the target of the beating.

Initial reports suggest the violence erupted after a group, returning from watching a football match, encountered another unknown group. The situation escalated rapidly, resulting in the two victims being caught and subjected to a violent assault. This incident, captured on video and circulating widely on social media, has drawn considerable public attention and concern.

While the motive remains under investigation, the police have emphasized that the incident is not connected to any specific football supporter groups. Instead, it is believed to have stemmed from a street misunderstanding, possibly involving motorcycle gangs. The investigation is ongoing, with police examining the involvement of four individuals in alleged theft, in addition to the ten believed to be the main perpetrators of the assault. The recovery of various items, including a golf stick, bamboo, broken bottle pieces, two motorcycles, 12 mobile phones, and medical reports, provides crucial evidence for the case. The suspects, aged between 20 and 25, face charges under Article 170 of the Criminal Code concerning group violence, with a maximum penalty of seven years imprisonment.
