Putin Hails Asia-Pacific as Global Economic Growth Hub

Vladimir Putin used the opening of the Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok to present the Asia-Pacific as the force setting the pace for the world economy.

Addressing the forum’s plenary session, the Russian president welcomed business leaders, specialists and experts from dozens of countries. He described the region as “a powerful growth hub setting the development pace for the global economy as a whole.”

I welcome the participants and guests of the 11th Eastern Economic Forum. This business event held in the capital of the Primorye Territory traditionally brings together business leaders, professionals and experts from dozens of countries.

Putin said Russia remains an active participant in trade and investment initiatives across the region. He also said his administration gives priority to partnerships with regional countries based on equality and mutual respect.

The Russian government has held the Eastern Economic Forum annually in Vladivostok since 2015. This year’s gathering ran from September 1 to 4, with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto attending as a guest of honor.

Prabowo used the plenary session to invite Russian businesses into Indonesia. “I am directly calling on Russian business leaders to enter Indonesia, partner with us, and engage in joint production. Let us build industries together; let us create value together,” he said. He added that such cooperation would help Indonesia gain access to the broader Eurasian market.
