Quad Biker Killed by Falling Branch During Storm in Austria

A powerful storm tragically claimed the life of a 26-year-old quad biker in Saxen, Austria, late Tuesday evening. The man was fatally struck by a falling branch from a chestnut tree while riding his quad.

The incident occurred in the Reitberg area shortly after 10 p.m. The large branch broke off due to the storm's intensity, hitting the rider directly in the head and pinning him between the branch and his vehicle. His 21-year-old girlfriend, who was a passenger on the quad, escaped the accident unharmed.

Following the accident, the woman immediately sought help from a nearby house. Neighbors responded quickly, using chainsaws to free the trapped man and initiating resuscitation efforts before emergency medical personnel arrived. Despite their efforts and subsequent transport to the Linz Accident Hospital, the man succumbed to his injuries in the shock room.

Authorities are investigating the circumstances surrounding the storm and the falling branch. The tragic event serves as a stark reminder of the dangers posed by severe weather conditions.
