Quang Tri primary school principal detained for bribery investigation

Authorities in Quang Tri province have detained Nguyen Van Dong, the principal of Quang Phuc Primary School No. 2, as part of an investigation into alleged bribery. The detention, which occurred on June 4, was confirmed by the provincial People's Procuracy, which also oversaw the search of Dong's residence and workplace.

The investigation into Dong, under Article 354 of the Criminal Code for bribery, stems from a complaint detailing alleged irregularities within the school's operations. These concerns reportedly include issues related to the signing of labor contracts for teachers and staff, as well as the management of the school's finances.

The Quang Tri Provincial Police are conducting the investigation, with the Provincial People's Procuracy ensuring that all legal procedures are strictly followed. Prosecutors are actively participating in the legal proceedings to guarantee an objective investigation and safeguard the legitimate rights and interests of all parties involved. The procuracy emphasized that close oversight from the early stages of the case is crucial for ensuring accurate investigations and preventing miscarriages of justice.

Earlier, the People's Committee of Bac Gianh ward had suspended Dong from his duties from April 1 to June 13, 2026, to facilitate the investigation requested by the Provincial Police's Security Investigation Agency. This suspension was issued following a request from the investigative agency concerning financial matters under review.
