Rafael Louzán: Spain will host the 2030 World Cup final

Rafael Louzán says Spain should host the 2030 World Cup final, arguing that “it is the best football country today” and that FIFA should make the final decision.

Speaking in Ceuta, the president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation pointed to the record of Spanish clubs and the men’s and women’s national teams. Spain, he said, carries 55 percent of the organizational weight in the tournament, which it is promoting with Portugal.

Louzán acknowledged that the joint bid involves three continents and six countries and said he did not want to divide it. But he questioned where the final could be played if not in Spain. He also noted that Ceuta does not have a large stadium capable of hosting the match.

The organizers still have cities and stadium projects to finalize. Spain has requested the inclusion of Valencia and Vigo and is awaiting confirmation before work begins. Louzán said the bid must remain united, particularly as the tournament will mark the centenary of the first World Cup.

Asked whether tensions after thousands of people entered Ceuta from Morocco in late July could reduce the bid to Spain and Portugal, Louzán called for consensus. He said the incident “should never have happened” and that he had come to show solidarity with Ceuta. At the same time, he insisted that the partners must work with the candidacy they signed and that there was no logical explanation for Spain, a two-time world champion and the current men’s and women’s world number one, not to host the final.
