Rain and thunderstorms signal a weather change as temperatures prepare to fall

Greece is set for mostly clear weather, but clouds and local storms will interrupt the summer conditions in several mainland regions. Mountainous areas of Epirus, Macedonia and Western Central Greece could see rain or showers, with isolated thunderstorms also possible in parts of Thessaly and the Peloponnese.

The unsettled weather will not end everywhere by evening. Rain and showers are expected to continue overnight in Central Macedonia and Thessaly. The weather pattern will also carry African dust into western parts of the country.

Northern winds will blow at 3 to 4 Beaufort in the west and 4 to 6 Beaufort in the east. Temperatures will remain broadly unchanged, reaching 34 to 36 degrees in mainland areas and locally in the Ionian Islands, the eastern Aegean islands and the Dodecanese. Some mainland locations could reach 36 to 37 degrees.

The Cyclades and Crete will remain generally clear, with temperatures of 30 to 33 degrees. The eastern Aegean and Dodecanese will reach up to 35 or 36 degrees. Attica will be mostly clear, with temperatures from 23 to 36 degrees, while Thessaloniki is also forecast to remain generally clear.
