Rapper Marwan Pablo’s prison sentence ‘not final’, yet to perform in next concert

The team of Egyptian rapper Marwan Pablo has issued a statement clarifying the status of a recent court ruling that reportedly upheld a one-year prison sentence against him. They emphasized that the verdict is "not final" and has been submitted for appeal to higher judicial authorities, meaning it does not represent the conclusive decision in the case.

Fans have been reassured that Pablo's scheduled concert will proceed without any alterations, with all preparations continuing as planned. The rapper's representatives urged the public to disregard rumors and inaccurate information, advising them to await the official final outcome after all legal avenues have been exhausted.

Previously, the Alexandria Economic Court had sentenced Pablo to one year of hard labor, along with a bail of LE 100,000 to temporarily suspend the sentence. He was also ordered to pay a fine of LE 100,000 and court costs. The charges stemmed from alleged violations of public morals and the publication of indecent content, specifically audio clips and song lyrics deemed offensive, distributed via multiple TikTok accounts.

The court found that Pablo's actions undermined public dignity, leading to the sentence under Egypt's Cybercrime Law and Criminal Procedure Code. The investigation indicated that the defendant released songs containing offensive lyrics, which the court determined were published with the intent to display them on social media platforms.
