RB Leipzig re-signs Christopher Nkunku on loan from AC Milan

German club RB Leipzig has announced the signing of French forward Christopher Nkunku on loan from AC Milan, with an option to purchase the player permanently. The move marks a return to Leipzig for the 28-year-old attacker, who previously enjoyed a successful spell with the Bundesliga club.

Nkunku played for RB Leipzig from 2019 to 2023, where he became a key player, netting 70 goals and contributing to two German Cup victories. He also finished as the joint top scorer in the 2022-23 Bundesliga season. "He has already shown the exceptional talent that he brings to the table and that he can make a difference in games," said Marcel Schaefer, Leipzig's managing director for sport, in a statement.

Nkunku began his career at Paris Saint-Germain before moving to Chelsea in 2023. His time at Stamford Bridge was hampered by injuries, although he did win the Conference League and Club World Cup with the Premier League side. He then transferred to AC Milan last year, scoring eight goals in 35 appearances during the 2025-26 season. Nkunku has also earned 18 caps for the French national team.
