Real Madrid reaches transfer agreement for RB Leipzig winger Yan Diomande

Real Madrid appears to be on the verge of securing a major transfer coup, having reportedly reached an agreement with Bundesliga club RB Leipzig for the signing of Ivorian winger Yan Diomande. This deal, if finalized, would place the Spanish giants ahead of other European powerhouses in the race for one of the continent's most sought-after young talents.

Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs reported on Monday that a basic framework for Diomande's transfer has been agreed upon by both clubs. While official details remain undisclosed, the transfer fee is speculated to be in the region of 120 million euros (approximately $2.44 trillion Indonesian Rupiah). This figure surpasses an earlier offer of around 100 million euros from Real Madrid and Liverpool, which RB Leipzig had rejected.

Diomande, just 19 years old, had a breakout season in 2025/26, contributing 12 goals and eight assists for RB Leipzig, helping them secure third place in the Bundesliga. His stellar performance earned him the Bundesliga Rookie of the Season award, placing him in the company of notable past recipients like Michael Olise and Alphonso Davies. He also notably scored his first senior hat-trick in a dominant 6-0 victory over Eintracht Frankfurt.

Known for his versatility on the wings, Diomande also led the Bundesliga in successful dribbles last season with 118 and won the most duels among all players in the league, showcasing his attacking prowess and work ethic. While he was initially rumored to favor a move to Paris Saint-Germain, Real Madrid's entry into the race appears to have swayed his decision. This potential transfer signals Real Madrid's continued strategy of investing in promising young talent.
