Real Madrid’s Firepower Leaves Atlético Frustrated in 3-2 Derby

Real Madrid needed barely 15 minutes to build a two-goal lead, then survived Atlético Madrid’s persistent response to win a frantic 3-2 derby.

Lotte Keukelaar created the opener in the seventh minute, turning inside the area before Felicia Schröder finished. Sandie Toletti then doubled the lead with an Olympic goal that flew toward the far post beyond Lola Gallardo’s reach.

The deficit sparked Atlético into sustained pressure. Synne Jensen reduced it with a move built by Luany’s backheel and Fiamma Benítez’s first-time pass. Atlético later appeared to equalize, but the goal was disallowed after a review for a foul by Maite Zubieta. Another effort struck the crossbar before Toletti cleared Fiamma’s shot off the line.

Real Madrid restored its two-goal advantage after Atlético errors near its own area, with Schröder scoring again. Jensen answered in the 50th minute with a powerful right-footed strike from the corner of the area, but Atlético could not complete the comeback.

The five-goal first half gave way to a less attractive second period, with the game becoming more unsettled and two players sent off. Atlético finished the match frustrated after staying close despite Madrid’s greater finishing efficiency.
