Record Participation for Parasport Games: Over 300 Athletes to Compete in Bucharest

Bucharest is set to host the first-ever Romanian Parasport Games in September, coinciding with the newly established National Paralympic Sports Day on September 1.

This national multi-sport event will bring together over 300 athletes competing in ten Paralympic disciplines, including para table tennis, para swimming, para athletics, para powerlifting, wheelchair basketball 3x3, para archery, adaptive judo, wheelchair tennis, para climbing, and para canoe. The competitions will take place across seven sports venues in the capital, with free admission for the public.

Carol Eduard Novak, President of the Romanian Paralympic Committee, highlighted the significance of the date and the Games. "September 1 is the official day of national Paralympic sport. He expressed that the Games aim to establish September 1 as a recognized celebration of Paralympic sport, performance, and inclusion.

Novak, a six-time Paralympian himself, shared that the idea for the Games stemmed from his personal experience as an athlete. He emphasized the immense effort and dedication invested in the project, driven by the belief in building something significant for the future of Romanian Paralympic sport.
