Referendum Demands Can Be Discussed in Parliament, Says Bangladesh Law Minister

Bangladesh's Law Minister, Advocate Md Asaduzzaman, announced the formation of a Constitution Amendment Committee tasked with processing remaining ordinances from the interim government period. These ordinances align with the "July Charter."

He explained that the committee will advance the remaining ordinances in line with the July Charter, making necessary constitutional amendments to support the reform process. He made these remarks while speaking to journalists after inaugurating a tree fair in Jhenaidah town.

Responding to questions about demands for a referendum and the implementation of the July Charter by the National Citizen Party (NCP) and Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami, Asaduzzaman said the matter could be discussed in parliament. Regarding recent attacks on NCP leaders and activists in Sylhet and Habiganj, the minister assured that legal action has already been initiated. Following an investigation, the incident will be tried in accordance with the law," he stated.

Separately, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism M Rashiduzzaman Millat highlighted the government's comprehensive master plan to boost domestic and foreign tourism. He noted that potential tourist destinations in Jhenaidah have been incorporated into this development plan, anticipating significant progress for the country's tourism industry upon its implementation.
