Habiganj municipality is under Section 144, a ban on gatherings of five or more people, imposed by the district administration. This measure aims to prevent potential clashes between the National Citizen Party (NCP) and the BNP, both of which had scheduled political events at the same venue.

The order, issued by District Magistrate GM Sharfaraz, prohibits processions, rallies, meetings, demonstrations, and any activities that could disrupt public order. The administration cited the expectation of large numbers of supporters from both sides as a risk factor for clashes, casualties, and property damage.

Police requested the imposition of Section 144 to avert any unpleasant situation and ensure public safety. The ban will remain in effect until further notice. The district administration stated that the decision was made to prevent untoward incidents and maintain peace.
