Regional train with 500 passengers, including football fans, breaks down near Königs Wusterhausen

A regional express train carrying around 500 passengers experienced a significant disruption on Sunday evening when it became stranded near the Königs Wusterhausen station in Brandenburg, Germany. The train, en route from Cottbus to Berlin, came to a halt shortly before entering the station due to a technical malfunction.

Federal police officers were dispatched to the scene to assist the passengers. Among those on board were numerous football fans, reportedly supporters of Hannover 96 returning from an away match against Energie Cottbus. The passengers were safely evacuated from the train and escorted on foot to the Königs Wusterhausen station.

From Königs Wusterhausen, the stranded passengers were able to continue their journeys by utilizing the S-Bahn, Berlin's suburban rail network. The incident caused considerable inconvenience for the hundreds of travelers.
