Renan Santos reports death threat ahead of campaign launch in São Paulo

Renan Santos, a presidential candidate for the Missão party, has reported a death threat received anonymously on Reddit, just days before his campaign launch in São Paulo.

The alleged perpetrator, claiming to be a law student at USP, detailed plans to attack Santos on August 16, the very day Santos is scheduled to officially kick off his presidential bid. The threat, which was sent to the party via email, has been reported to the Federal Police.

Santos stated that he has been the target of recurrent threats, but this latest one appears particularly detailed. The anonymous message, posted on Reddit and later deleted, reportedly included claims of monitoring Santos for months and a stated intention to attack him, fueled by political animosity. The author allegedly identified Santos as a "Nazi" and a "fascist leader."

Despite the serious nature of the threat, Santos confirmed that the campaign launch event will proceed as planned. He assured supporters that security would be significantly enhanced, with police presence to ensure the safety of all attendees. "I will be present, there will be full assistance from the police authorities present, and you can come with your family safely," Santos said in a video message.
