Reorganization in the Public Ministry: Eight Years of Consuelo Porras Under Scrutiny

The departure of María Consuelo Porras Argueta as Attorney General marks the end of a controversial eight-year term, during which the Public Ministry (MP) navigated a complex landscape of crime investigation and prosecution in Guatemala.

Cien's analysis suggests that while the MP implemented an integrated case management model, this strategy appears to have led to a higher rate of dismissals. The data indicates that in 2024 alone, out of 451,385 reports, a significant portion were either archived or saw requests for dismissal.
