Rescuer missing amid search for victims of deadly air crash in Guatemala

Rescue operations are continuing in the mountainous terrain of San Miguel Pochuta, Chimaltenango, Guatemala, following an air crash that has claimed three lives.

The Guatemalan Army reported that a rescuer from the Humanitarian and Rescue Brigade remains missing in the crash zone. The military is working with emergency services and other institutions within the National Response System to find the missing rescuer and aid in the extraction of the victims. The challenging terrain and complex nature of the operation have necessitated an increased deployment of ground units.

So far, three fatalities have been confirmed, and two bodies have been successfully recovered and brought to the surface. The Aeronáutica Civil is investigating the cause of the accident. Rescue efforts for the missing individual are proceeding without interruption, with all necessary human, logistical, and operational resources dedicated to the emergency.
