Retailers to Maintain Regular Hours on Joninės; Lithuanian Post Services Limited

Lithuanian shoppers can expect major retail chains to operate on their usual schedules this Joninės (Midsummer Day), celebrated on Wednesday, June 24th. Stores including Maxima, Lidl, Iki, and Rimi have confirmed no changes to their standard operating hours for the public holiday.

Several retailers have already implemented seasonal adjustments, extending their hours since mid-May or early June to accommodate the summer season. "Many stores by the sea and lakes have even longer working hours since June," noted Gintarė Kitovė, Head of Communications at Iki. Similarly, Maxima has extended hours in certain locations, as reported earlier.

Lidl has also adjusted its hours for its Palanga store, opening an hour earlier at 7 a.m. and closing at midnight to better serve residents and tourists. "All information about store opening hours can be found by customers on our website and in the 'Lidl Plus' app," stated Antanas Bubnelis, Head of Corporate Affairs and Communications at Lidl Lietuva.

In contrast, Lithuanian Post (Lietuvos paštas) will operate with limited services. Only a portion of post offices located within shopping centers will be open on June 24th. Additionally, mail carrier and LP EXPRESS courier services will be suspended for the day. While LP EXPRESS parcel lockers will remain operational, no shipments will be delivered to or collected from them. Some post office branches within shopping centers will also have altered hours on the eve of the holiday, June 23rd.
