Retired 'Warm-Hearted' Police Chief Returns to Aohua Tribe to Continue Charity Work

A retired police chief, hailed as the "warm-hearted station chief," has returned to the Aohua tribe in Yilan, Taiwan, to continue his philanthropic efforts. Hu Chuan-ming, 60, a Bunun indigenous man, spent 40 years in service, often helping the poor and sick, and has donated a significant portion of his savings, totaling 14 million New Taiwan dollars, throughout his career.

After retiring last year, Hu promised to keep his charitable work going. He recently led a charity group to the Aohua tribe, an Atayal indigenous village, to distribute essential supplies to 40 vulnerable families. He also personally donated 10,000 New Taiwan dollars from his retirement fund to a local resident, Mr. Lin, whose family is facing financial difficulties after his father's death and his own battle with cancer.

Hu expressed his deep connection to the Aohua tribe, considering its residents like family. The current Aohua police station chief, Lin Chao-ming, helped arrange the distribution of goods. Hu's past efforts have inspired many charitable organizations to join his cause, and he continues to coordinate such initiatives.

Beyond his volunteer work, Hu has taken on roles as a committee member for the Ministry of the Interior's police and fire safety promotion and incident investigation, and as a director for the Police University Alumni Association. His ultimate aspiration is to be a lifelong volunteer, dedicated to supporting disadvantaged households and ensuring his "love continues without end."
