Rev. Lasawa elected Methodist Church President-Elect

Rev. Dr. Jolami Lasawa has been elected President-Elect of the Methodist Church in Fiji during the Church’s 2026 Annual Conference in Suva.

He is set to take over as President in 2027, succeeding the current President, Rev. Dr. Semisi Turagavou. In his first address after the election, Rev. Lasawa conveyed his humility and gratitude for the trust placed in him. He stated his readiness to embrace the responsibility and serve the Church alongside his family.

"I am humbled and fully embrace this challenge with open arms, with God’s help. This is a responsibility that my family and I are ready to carry on," Rev. Lasawa said. The Methodist Church highlighted that his election occurs at a significant time as the Church continues its focus on spiritual renewal, discipleship, and community service.

The Church is encouraging its members and the broader Christian community to offer prayers for Rev. Lasawa as he prepares to assume the leadership role next year.
