Reykjavík Police Report Relatively Calm Day with Diverse Incidents

Reykjavík police reported a comparatively quiet day, registering 56 cases between 5 a.m. and the afternoon. While the number of incidents was lower than in previous periods, the day's activities included a range of offenses across the capital area.

At the main police station on Hlemmur, officers responded to reports of a car break-in, vandalism at a school, and an assault. Firefighters assisted police in investigating a fire in a storage unit, the cause of which is now under examination. Additionally, police intervened with individuals disregarding city center closures.

In other districts, police in Hafnarfjörður assisted paramedics. In Kópavogur, officers dealt with a traffic accident involving an electric scooter and a car, though no injuries were reported. The station also received reports of a driver under the influence, shoplifting from a grocery store, and a drug possession case.

Officers in Grafarvogur and surrounding areas also handled a shoplifting incident. Throughout the day, police maintained a visible presence, monitoring traffic and remaining available to assist citizens with various matters.
