Reza Rahadian, Christine Hakim star in Malaysian film 'Langit 2 Warna'

Acclaimed Indonesian actors Reza Rahadian and veteran actress Christine Hakim are set to headline 'Langit 2 Warna,' a new cinematic venture from Malaysian director Erma Fatima. This film marks Fatima's return to feature film directing after a decade-long hiatus. The project was officially introduced to the media during a Cast Reveal event in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.

'Langit 2 Warna' promises a diverse cast, bringing together actors from both Indonesia and Malaysia. Filming is scheduled to take place across various international locales, including Malaysia, Indonesia, Cairo, Egypt, and Saudi Arabia. In the film, Rahadian will embody the character Salafi, while Hakim takes on the role of Ibu Aishah Khalida, in a narrative centered on religious themes.

The first reason is the story, then there is the character Salafi who is interesting. In my opinion, this is a story that I have never seen before, especially in Indonesia.

Rahadian cited the compelling story and the intriguing nature of his character, Salafi, as primary reasons for his involvement. He noted that the narrative offers a unique perspective he hasn't encountered before, particularly within Indonesian cinema. Hakim's personal encouragement also played a role in his decision, despite initial apprehension about meeting the director's vision for the character.

When Ibu said, 'You have to play this character,' I was initially scared. I didn't really know if I could bring it or play this character as director Ibu Erma had imagined.

Hakim, in turn, was drawn to the project by her long-standing friendship with director Erma Fatima and her confidence in Fatima's abilities as both an actress and filmmaker. She was particularly captivated by the film's approach to portraying religion through dialogue and human connection, rather than solely relying on horror tropes. Hakim stated, "I fell in love with the story," highlighting its exploration of compassion, humanity, and a deeper understanding of faith.

The film does not yet have a confirmed release date, with principal photography slated for November and December 2026. Alongside Rahadian and Hakim, the cast includes notable Malaysian actors such as Ummi Nazeera, Eman Manan, Umie Aida, and Datuk Ahmad Tamimi Siregar.
