RFMF Commander Calls for Integrity

Major General Ro Jone Kalouniwai, Commander of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces (RFMF), has called upon all personnel to maintain high standards of integrity, accountability, and transparency. This directive comes as the military force gears up for significant reforms designed to enhance its operational capabilities and public standing.

Speaking at an RFMF service held at Tuvasu Hall, Queen Elizabeth Barracks, Major General Kalouniwai stressed the individual responsibility each member holds in protecting the military's reputation and preserving public confidence. He articulated that service within the RFMF transcends personal interests, focusing instead on the crucial duty of safeguarding the institution and honoring the trust invested in it by the Fijian people.

"This is especially important in demonstrating honesty, integrity and transparency to the people of Fiji, whom we have sworn to protect, and to fulfil our responsibility in safeguarding our beloved nation. We must raise our moral vision as an institution. When the time comes for our actions to be judged, the things we do will be closely examined. Therefore, it is important for every member of the military to challenge ourselves and reflect on our responsibilities because of where the RFMF is heading today,” Kalouniwai stated.

The Commander reiterated that honesty, transparency, and accountability must remain foundational values as the RFMF continues to execute its constitutional duties. He also referenced ongoing consultations aimed at institutional strengthening, encouraging members to embrace changes that will ultimately improve the force and ensure its readiness to perform its mandated tasks. Every soldier, he concluded, plays a vital role in preserving the RFMF's legacy and reputation.
