Richard O'Sullivan, Star of Robin's Nest, Dies at 82

Richard O'Sullivan, the British actor who became a familiar television face through the comedies Man About the House and Robin's Nest, has died at the age of 82.

O'Sullivan died at Brinsworth House, a care home for theatre and entertainment professionals on Staines Road in the London borough of Richmond upon Thames. He had lived there for the last 23 years.

His son, James O'Sullivan, remembered him as “as funny and charming in real life as the man who appeared on our television screens for years. He was always in a good mood, a fantastic father and a loving grandfather.”

O'Sullivan’s best-known roles came as Robin Trip in Man About the House, which ran from 1973 to 1976, and Robin's Nest, broadcast from 1977 to 1981. Both series reached audiences in numerous countries and gave him international recognition. Despite a long career, his later work did not match the success of those two shows.
