Richard O'Sullivan, star of 'Robin's Nest,' dies at 82

Richard O'Sullivan, the British actor who became a familiar television face in the 1970s and 1980s, has died at 82.

O'Sullivan died on Friday at Brinsworth House, a care home for theater and entertainment professionals on Staines Road in London's Richmond upon Thames district. He had lived there for the past 23 years.

In a statement released by the residence, his son James O'Sullivan described him as “as funny and charming in real life as the man who appeared on our television screens for years. Always in good spirits, he was a fantastic father and a loving grandfather.”

Although O'Sullivan enjoyed a long career, audiences most strongly remember him as Robin Trip in the successful comedies Man About the House, which ran from 1973 to 1976, and Robin's Nest, broadcast from 1977 to 1981. Both series reached viewers in numerous countries. After those two international successes, his career gradually faded.
