Rímac to Get Its First Shopping Center: Lomas Plaza Opens July 22

The district of Rímac in Lima, Peru, is set to welcome its first-ever shopping center with the opening of Lomas Plaza on Wednesday, July 22. Developed by real estate company Besco, this new strip center is poised to become a significant commercial hub in the area.

Lomas Plaza will launch with approximately 6,000 square meters of leasable space, already boasting over 75% occupancy. Key tenants include a Metro supermarket and the fitness chain Smart Fit, which together occupy about half of the available area. The remaining space will host a variety of businesses, such as a pharmacy, a chicken restaurant, and a coffee shop, diversifying the offerings for shoppers.

The shopping center is part of the larger Lomas del Rímac urban project, which also includes a residential building with 144 apartments. This mixed-use development represents an investment of S/80 million and aims to serve not only the residents of the new housing complex and the Rímac district but also attract customers from neighboring areas like Cercado de Lima, San Martín de Porres, and San Juan de Lurigancho.

Accessibility is a key feature, with planned access via Avenida Alcázar, a cycle path connecting to Avenida Wilson and Tacna, and the extension of the Corredor Azul bus service to the site. Besco anticipates increasing the occupancy rate within the first year by adding more businesses to complete the commercial proposal.
