Rob Reiner wins posthumous Emmy for ‘The Bear’

Rob Reiner received a posthumous Emmy on Sunday for his guest role in “The Bear,” earning the award for outstanding guest actor in a comedy series.

The honor came during the Creative Arts Emmys, held a week before the televised ceremony. It was the third Emmy of Reiner’s career. The U.S. Television Academy presents the awards for excellence in television’s technical, artistic and production work.

Reiner received eight Emmy nominations throughout his career, including six for acting in the 1970s series “All in the Family.” His portrayal of Michael Stivic brought him Emmy wins in 1975 and 1978.

In “The Bear,” starring Jeremy Allen White, Reiner played Albert Schnurr, a restaurant and business consultant who becomes a mentor to Ebraheim, played by Edwin Lee Gibson. Reiner appeared in three episodes of the show’s fourth season, which received eight nominations.

The award came at an Emmy season marked by tragedy. Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Singer Reiner, were found dead at their Los Angeles home in December 2025. Their son, Nick Reiner, has been accused of killing them. The 78th Emmy Awards will take place on Sept. 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles and will air on NBC.
