Romania Issues Emergency Alert in Tulcea County Amid Russian Attacks on Ukraine

Residents of Tulcea County, Romania, received an emergency alert on Wednesday, warning them of the possibility of objects falling from the sky. The alert, issued around 11:17 a.m., was prompted by Russia's ongoing attacks on infrastructure in neighboring Ukraine.

This is not the first time residents have been alerted. In recent days, aerial surveillance systems have detected drones near the Danube Delta. Consequently, RO-Alert messages have been sent to the population, advising them of the risk that fragments or other objects could land on Romanian territory.

Sunday marked the third consecutive day that Romanian Air Force planes have intercepted and downed drones that entered Romanian airspace. The heightened activity near Romania's eastern border has led to a shift in military response protocols.

Previously, Romanian military aircraft primarily monitored drones or other aircraft that accidentally entered national airspace. Now, they are actively intervening to neutralize targets deemed a risk to Romania's security. The authorities are urging the public to remain calm and adhere to recommended safety measures.
