Romarm recovers from financial blockages; Economy Minister says company is regaining credibility

The Romanian state-owned defense company Romarm is on the path to recovery, having finalized its financial statements for 2024 and 2025. These documents are set to be approved imminently, marking a significant step in overcoming years of administrative and financial blockages.

Interim Economy Minister Irinel Darău announced the completion of the financial reports, emphasizing that the company is now up-to-date and regaining its credibility. He highlighted that upon taking office, he found Romarm in an "unacceptable situation," with its 2024 financial statements blocked due to serious reservations from auditors.

"A strategic national company cannot function and be efficient 'in the air,' without a clear and transparent financial history," Darău stated. He explained that the lack of approved financial statements had hampered the company's ability to operate effectively and access necessary funding.

With the financial situation now rectified, Romarm is poised to become "credible and bankable" again. This will allow the company to tap into national and international financing programs, including the SAFE Program and others supporting the defense industry. Furthermore, the improved financial standing will enable Romarm to more effectively support its factories and ensure timely salary payments for its employees, as indicated by the minister's initiation of payments through the "Nucleu" program.
