Malaysian men's doubles player Yap Roy King is eagerly anticipating his new partnership with Tee Kai Wun, set to debut at the upcoming China Open badminton tournament from July 21 to 26. This collaboration represents a significant new chapter in Roy King's career, demanding a distinct strategy and mindset to effectively challenge the world's elite pairs. "Partnering with Kai Wun starting at the China Open is something I'm really excited about because we will be forming a new pair," Roy King stated. He emphasized the need for a different way of thinking and a commitment to performing their best against international competitors. The player also expressed his eagerness to gauge the level of chemistry they can build together. This reshuffle comes as the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) has restructured several of its men's doubles pairings as part of its long-term planning for the 2028 Los Angeles Olympics. Notably, the former world champions Aaron Chia-Soh Wooi Yik and the pair Man Wei Chong-Tee Kai Wun were among those separated. Meanwhile, Roy King is also slated to compete with Arif Junaidi at the Japan Open from July 14 to 19. For that tournament, he aims to reach at least the semifinals, building on their quarterfinal appearance last year. "If possible, we want to achieve better results than before. Last year, we reached the quarterfinals, so for this edition, we can at least reach the semifinals," he added.
