Rublev advances to Bastad final to face Darderi

Andrey Rublev advanced to the 30th final of his career by defeating Alejandro Tabilo 6-4, 4-6, 6-4 in a hard-fought match at Bastad. The Russian will now face the defending champion, Luciano Darderi, in what promises to be a compelling final.

Darderi secured his spot in the final by overcoming Paraguayan Adolfo Daniel Vallejo in a grueling three-set match. The Italian, who is the tournament's second seed, needed two hours and 57 minutes to defeat Vallejo, who showed resilience by saving three match points in the second set.

This marks Darderi's third final appearance of the season. He previously lost the final in Buenos Aires but won the title in Santiago. His record in finals is strong, with five wins out of six matches played, all on clay courts.

For Rublev, this is his second final of 2026. He previously lost in Barcelona and is now aiming for his first title of the year. The former world number five, now ranked 16th, won the Bastad title in 2023 and will be looking to repeat that success against the in-form Darderi.
