Russia attacks 50 Ukrainian sites with drones and missiles

Russian forces launched a widespread assault across Ukraine overnight, targeting 50 locations with various types of missiles, drones, and other weaponry. The Ukrainian Air Force reported that the regions of Kyiv and Odesa experienced the most significant impact from the attacks, which occurred between August 21 and 22.

During the offensive, Russia deployed Iskander-M and S-400 missiles, along with an unspecified number of Banderol loitering munitions and 217 drones. Ukrainian air defense forces managed to destroy or disable three Kh-31P/Kh-59 missiles, six Banderol munitions, and 182 drones. Despite these defenses, aircraft impacts were registered in 41 locations, and debris from downed aircraft fell in 12 areas.

The attacks resulted in casualties and damage. In Kyiv, a missile strike on a warehouse in the Darnitsky district caused a fire, killing at least one person and injuring several others, according to the city's military administration. In the Mykolaiv region, an overnight attack claimed at least four lives, including three children aged 11 and 12. The attack also ignited a store, a pharmacy, and a post office. Russian forces also targeted the railway network in Odesa, damaging the Rozdilna train station. In Kherson, an attack on a shopping center led to a fire that destroyed nearly the entire building.
