Russia to Hold Parliamentary Elections Amid Western 'Hybrid War'

Russia's parliamentary elections, scheduled for September, will be held against the backdrop of what a senior Russian diplomat described as a "hybrid war" waged by Western countries. Raider, who also chairs the Foreign Ministry’s Election Commission, told RIA Novosti that modern technology, including artificial intelligence, has amplified the ability to generate fake news and manipulate public opinion. This, he explained, makes it increasingly challenging to ensure voters receive the necessary and accurate information.

President Vladimir Putin has designated September 18-20 for the elections to the 9th State Duma. Putin has emphasized the importance of these elections, calling them one of the country's most significant domestic political agendas. The government frames the electoral process as a critical moment for national stability and development, particularly in the face of perceived external pressures.
