Russia unleashed missile strikes on the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv, overnight, while Ukraine retaliated by targeting a major oil refinery in Moscow with drones. These escalated attacks came hours after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy engaged in discussions with U.S. President Donald Trump and other European leaders concerning potential pathways to end the protracted war.

Explosions were reported across Kyiv, with authorities in Sumy also confirming one fatality. Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv's military administration, issued urgent warnings via Telegram, urging residents to seek safety as the city faced a ballistic missile assault. This marks the second time Kyiv has been targeted by aerial attacks this week, underscoring the persistent nature of the conflict.

Meanwhile, Ukraine's drones successfully struck the Moscow Oil Refinery (MNPZ), marking the second such attack on the facility within a week. Russia's defense ministry claimed its air defense systems intercepted and destroyed 555 Ukrainian drones across various regions overnight. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin stated that approximately 180 drones heading for the capital were downed, though some debris caused minor damage to a shopping center on the city's outskirts. Flights at major Moscow airports were temporarily suspended due to the drone activity.

However, the Kremlin indicated that Putin did not discuss potential meeting with Zelenskyy during his recent call with Trump.
